We could at least let people read short notes directly in their e-mail. MeetUp has the same policy, and it's even more annoying since it's usually about when and where an event is, and you have to go to the web site to see if you could even go. Does FaceBook carry ads? Why the heavyhanded "you must log in"? Change.org is the same, and takes a huge cut of donations made through its system – and I heard is itself not a nonprofit.
The fact is that we do need a single networking site, quite apart of the quality of what's out there, as part of a larger ecosystem of justice networking online. We need a place where people who deserve it gain credibility as activists and can plan projects about which everyone who should know, and wants to know, will know.
