Drupal or Wordpress? Making a quick simple site

Description & Info:

E-mail subject: Drupal or Wordpress?

Hey friend,

How is things?

So, my school has asked me to design a site for them. How do I use wordpress or drupal to do so? They can't pay me much or I'd just pay you to do it! They have hosting and everything, so I just need to create a little mini site to link off of their big one ... It is an aftercare program I work for... and l need to just create a number of pages for it. I would love to make a mock up today.

Thanks for any advice you might be able to offer,
Ian

I responded neutrally and calmly:

Drupal drupal drupal drupal!

Sounds closest to http://camparrowhead.us ... if it's really simple you can use Drupal 6

http://drupal.org/drupal-6.1

which is easier to install and to theme than ever.

Probably a good idea to start with the sky theme, as it's both good to start with and pretty good to work with:

http://drupal.org/project/sky

Make sure to register at Drupal.org and filter themes and modules by the version of core (5 or 6) you want to work with.

And if the main site doesn't let you create sections and post basic content, have them get rid of whoever made it and hire us to redo it :-P

Ian:

I guess the question is as follows:

I have it all down, the sky theme and drupal itself. Do I make the site online or on my desktop? I'm so ignorant about these things. I have also registered for an account...

I'm off to church, check later :)
