Hey Ben,

Thanks for your website.Plenty to read good stuff.I have a
question about drupal implementation.I have installed it already
but i'm still confused where to start building the site.I am only needing the site for uploading/download PPT/Doc and Video
materials. What theme and modules should fit to my needs.

Thanks,
Jack

Hello Jack,

We have a very short summary of resources and recommended first steps here:

http://agaricdesign.com/ask-agaric-getting-started-with-drupal

Drupal's default file attachment functionality is probably all you need for uploading and downloading Powerpoint, word processing documents, and video files. There are also increasing numbers and sophistication of media handling modules for Drupal.

As for where to put the site, Agaric Design Collective provide hosting for Drupal sites that we build (our custom solutions, including design and theme, generally start at several thousand dollars), but we do not as a rule host sites built by other people.

Our colleagues at May First People Link (MFPL) provide an excellent service of a Drupal installation to which you can upload your chosen themes and modules, for an individual membership of $100 a year and an organizational membership of $200 a year (check for current rates) - http://mayfirst.org/

MFPL is not simply a hosting provider but serves as a shared resource for people working in diverse ways to build a more just world. They look for members who agree with this statement of unity: http://mayfirst.org/unity

Good luck,

ben
