Drupal Consulting

Grounded in the core web development skills of using Apache, MySQL, PHP, HTML, and CSS, Agaric Design’s lead programmer serves as a Drupal consultant, supported (as for each of us in all the work we do) by the whole collective.

When you seek a Drupal consultant, wrote Nick Lewis, a leader in the field, what you are looking for is specialization in Drupal. Without the specialization above and beyond the required web programming skillset, even expert PHP programmers encounter avoidable failure.

Agaric Design, for its part, is increasingly immersed in the Drupal support, consulting, and development communities. We strive to keep up on the whats, wheres, and hows of Drupal: how the various parts of the Drupal core work together, how functionality-adding modules work with the core and each other, and perhaps most importantly where to look for the hundreds of third party modules that make Drupal such an attractive choice– if you know what you’re doing.

In addition to the typical skills plus Drupal specialization, the Agaric Design Collective brings our specialties of content writing, user interface design, and technical documentation and instructional writing. On the back end we bring the ability to provide version control and bug tracking. All of it is wrapped up, as always, with strong communication skills and the advantages of an experienced, collaborative team.

Fees vary. The minimum for any experienced consultant working is $75.00 an hour, and the same holds for Agaric Design. In some cases $150.00 an hour or more may be reasonable, depending on the objectives, timeframe, additional labor costs, and the applicability of our additional knowledge and skills.

While for programmers consulting is typically charged hourly, Agaric Design is open to submitting project-based proposals, which is our customary pricing approach to creating web sites for clients and executive-level consulting on internet business strategy.
