dinarcon's 2017 Drupal tour recap

2017 was an amazing year for me. I met so many people, attended lots of events, presented a good amount of sessions and trainings, and travelled like never before. I got to interact with the Drupal community in many ways. And I learned so much, both technical and life lessons. Let me share a summary of my year.

To make the text compact I will use some abbreviations in the text. DC for DrupalCamp and GTD for Global Training Days. Meetups refers to local user groups meetings.

A blooming community - Lakes and Volcanoes DrupalCamp 2017 Recap

Over 8 years have passed since there was a DrupalCamp in tropical Nicaragua. With the help of a diverse group of volunteers, sponsors, and university faculty staff, we held our second one. DrupalCamp Lagos y Volcanes ("Lakes & Volcanoes") was a great success with over 100 people attending in 2 days. It was a big undertaking so we followed giants' footsteps to prepare for our event. Lots of the ideas were taken from some of the organizers' experience while attending Drupal events.

Conditional fields in Paragraphs using the Javascript States API for Drupal 8

While creating content, there are pieces of information that are only relevant when other fields have a certain value. For example, if we want to allow the user to upload either an image or a video, but not both, you can have another field for the user to select which type of media they want to upload. In these scenarios, the Javascript States API for Drupal 8 can be used to conditionally hide and show the input elements for image and video conditionally.
